EDLD 5362 Information Systems Management When I think about information systems management I picture a large corporate computer System. I actually never gave much thought to a software application for educational Establishments to manage student data. The readings helped me to realize how important it Is to manage information systems. Although I use these applications on a daily basis it just never occurred to me. We manage this data daily from grades, attendance and student schedules. I also learned the different acronyms such as student information systems (SIMS, SIM), student records system (SMS). I actually envision a time when all the information we need on students would be located on a digital tool or embedded on an Identification card or bracelet. I think that future course readings would be easier for working adults if they were placed on a disk where you can have direct access to it where ever you go. According to Bernhardt (2009) if a school wants to improve student learning, it has to use data. Using data effectively requires data tools particularly student information systems, data warehouses, and instructional Management systems. References Bernhardt, V. (2009).
